Mobilize, Optimize, Stabilize

Chiropractic
Services

Our chiropractors evaluate your painful condition to identify the cause of the pain in order to determine the appropriate treatment. Through improving movement and function, our chiropractic services in IL will help you return to your preferred activities as quickly as possible. The doctors utilize multiple techniques in order to restore motion and function to the dysfunctional areas of the body.

Chiropractic Adjustments

The chiropractic adjustment is used to release restricted motion in the joints of the spine and extremities. The adjustment often creates an audible cavitation (popping/cracking) that helps to restore joint motion. This can lead to relief of painful areas and relax surrounding tight muscles. Joints often become restricted from poor posture, lack of movement or injuries. Restoring normal joint motion also helps to limit future degeneration and dysfunction.

For patients that prefer a gentler adjustment, we also provide mobilization that does not cause the audible cavitation. These techniques also help to restore restricted motion and reduce motion tightness. This is accomplished by using the Thompson technique, which utilizes the table drop-pieces to lighten the adjustment and remain low-force.

Active Release Techniques

Active Release Technique (ART) is a hands-on movement based technique to treat both acute and chronic soft tissue injuries. Soft tissue injuries occur when a muscle, ligament, tendon or nerve become overly tight and motion becomes limited, often causing pain and decreased function. The benefits of ART are improved ROM, joint mechanics and decreased pain and sensitivity. It can also help to decrease trigger points and adhesions within the muscles.

ART is the perfect complement to chiropractic services. Providing ART either before or after the adjustment helps to facilitate and reinforce the process to get patients out of pain more quickly, significantly helping to reduce treatment time.

Movement Assessment

In motion assessment, the doctors take a whole body approach to determine what chiropractic services are needed. The doctors will examine and assess the quality of different movements of each patient. Weaknesses, imbalances, compensatory patterns, or poor technique can be identified while watching how a patient is moving. Movements assessed include: an overhead squat, a baseball throw, a runner’s gait, or even a serve in tennis. The doctors may recommend corrective exercises to improve any weaknesses or imbalances found during the examination.

Therapeutic Modalities

Our chiropractic services in IL include a variety of other techniques utilized by the doctors to provide care to their patients. These techniques are used to complement the main techniques performed by the chiropractors. Electrical stimulation is a method to assist with pain control and relaxation of spastic muscles.

Another modality is cervical decompression therapy, also called traction, which helps to provide relief of neck pain. It gently stretches the spine, relieving pressure off of the discs, joints and surrounding muscles. The treatment can help alleviate symptoms originating from herniated discs, nerve pain down the shoulder or arm, or degenerative disc disease. Also, the doctors may use a cold laser. This uses light energy to stimulate tissue healing, increased circulation, reduce inflammation, and decrease pain. It is beneficial is acute injury setting to control inflammation, such as an acute ankle sprain.

We also offer acupuncture services in our IL office.

Dry Needling

Dry needling is typically used on trigger points that are found in the musculature. A trigger point is a tight band of tissue within the muscle. These trigger points can be painful and often radiate pain to the surrounding tissues. A thin needle, similar to those used in acupuncture, is inserted directly into the trigger point. This can help reduce tension and pain within the muscle, which may improve function and range of motion.
